Visit to Panax Notoginseng Base Employees
At 7 a.m., January 3, 2014, shortly after the New Year's Day, a team led by Vice Chairman Chen Yixian, on behalf of Chairman Tang and the rest of the staff of Daphne, braved cold breeze to drive to Yuxi to see employees busy with work at the Panax notoginseng planting bases. Mr. Chen was joined by Tang Jirong, Production Manager, Wang Wushan, vice director of the Board of Directors Office, and Chen Wenli, executive at the Zhongheng Group. Their destinations are the Fuxian Lake Base in the Huaning County and the Xunsha Base and Kedu Base in the Xundian County.
At 12:00 noon, the team arrived at the Panax notoginseng base by the Fuxian Lake. The base sits on a high mountain, far from villages, having disadvantageous communication condition. In particular, the December 15 snow disaster and frost resulted in collapse of Panax notoginseng greenhouses and perishing of young Panax notoginseng plants. The base employees were not daunted by the massive losses and messes. Under leadership of the base leader Lou Shicong, the employees swung into action immediately. By the day, one third of the Panax notoginseng greenhouses were already restored, and it would take another 10 days to restore the rest of the greenhouses. After briefing, Vice Chairman Chen entered Panax notoginseng greenhouses to check for the losses, and asked the base management to take care of safety and health during remedy. After breakfast at a base farmer's home, Vice Chairman Chen handed out gifts to the base and headed to another base.
At 5 p.m., they arrived at the Xunsha base in the Xundian County. The base covers an area of 1300 mu (86.67 ha.). This year is the first time for them to plant Panax notoginseng seedlings. Getting off the car, they were stunned by the magnificent scene of a large stretch of Panax notoginseng greenhouses, just like camps of a large army in the ancient time. Inside the greenhouses, technicians were showing the farmers how to plant Panax notoginseng seedlings. Pushing aside the covering, lovely Panax notoginseng seedlings were there, looking in good shape. The base leader Zhang Wenbin gave a briefing on implementation of plantation of Panax notoginseng seedlings. He wanted to make the job done before January 25. Vice Chairman Chen was pleased and instructed them to grab the opportunity and get the job done.
It was dark when the travelers departed from the Xunsha base. They continued their journey to the next leg Kedu Base at 10 p.m. It was pitch dark. They were welcomed to a room and chatted with base leader Huang Xu and some farmers around fire. Knowing that the base rode through the snow disaster and their Panax notoginseng grew stronger than other farmers', Vice Chairman Chen was so delighted to encourage the base employees to continue their effort and strive for a good harvest.
It was 11 p.m. when they departed from the Kedu base. Amid freezing air, they felt warm in heart. Seeing is a believing. We take pride in the devoted base employees. Let's pay a tribute to you. With your persistent effort, Daphne will have a better future!
