The appraisal panel concludes that, Panax
Pseudoginseng: Basic Research of Development & Application, a project
conducted by a Chinese research team led by China TCM Research Institute with
more than two years, is the first and latest research findings of the pharmacological
effect of panax pseudoginseng since the Compendium of Materia Medica was put out. It was an outcome
obtained with aid of the modern technology.
Appraisal comments say "Panax pseudoginseng is a commonly used precious
TCM drug, and widely reputed for its effect of regulating and tonifying blood, stopping
bleeding, dispersing stasis and mitigating swelling. Due to its nourishing and
enhancing benefit, it is long popular among the folks. But there is no report
and literatural description of systematic research as yet. This research gives
systematic comparative research pharmacologically and phytochemically. It
affirms panax pseudoginseng's material basis in terms of nourishing and
enhancing effect. It represents new development of
and contribution to research of panax pseudoginseng. In the meantime, this research
gives quantitative analysis of panax pseudoginseng's chemical composition and nutrient facts except for saponins, and gives toxicological research. It provides a full understanding of panax
pseudoginseng's pharmacological effect. It means breakthrough and findings in
development of saponin-excluded panax pseudoginseng as a foodstuff additive,
and comprehensive utilization of Chinese TCM drugs. It has high academic value,
and what's more important, it
is very likely to bring major benefits, socially and economically."
