       At 11:25 a.m. on June 13, 2015, at the 3^rd China-South Asia Expo & 23^rd China Import & Export Fair,Kunming, Mr. LI Yuanchao, member of Politburo of the CPC Central Committee andChina's vice president paid a visit to the Wenshan Exhibition Area in the Yunnan Hall. LI, accompanied by Mr. LI Jiheng, Party boss of theYunnanProvinceand director at the standing committee of the provincial People's Congress, heard presentation on local Panax notoginseng business and ethnic culture.

      Wenshan Panax notoginseng is the most distinctive specialty crop forYunnan. Surrounding its farming, processing, sales and R&D, a Panax notoginseng industry has taken shape and is now reputed as a specialty industry forYunnanand a pillar for local economy in Wenshan. It has found a place in the national and provincial biological pharmaceutical industry. Currently, the output value of Panax notoginseng in theWenshanPrefecturealready topped ¥10b. Nationwide, the output value of bio-pharmaceutical products using Panax notoginseng directly hit ¥100b. More than 360 varieties of TCM patent medicines are made with Panax notoginseng material, involving more than 3620 approval numbers and more than 1350 pharmaceutical enterprises. Many of the drugs made it in the Directory of Basic Drugs ofChina and Directory of Medical Insurance Covered Drugs of China.

      At Daphne's booth, Vice President LI picked up a box of Panax notoginseng product and asked, "Is this just Panax notoginseng?" "It's frozen dry Panax notoginseng," replied Mr. LI Jiheng. "Frozen dry Panax notoginseng is also known as active Panax notoginseng, namely frozen and dried Panax notoginseng. It's produced through freezing and low temperature drying process." Vice President LI also asked about development of the Panax notoginseng industry in Wenshan.

 "Here is exhibition area ofChina's home of Panax notoginseng - Wenshan. The products we exhibit are mainly Panax notoginseng-based." After hearing presentation from prefectural officials, Vice President LI asked seriously that, "Do you have Panax notoginseng pharmaceutical enterprise in Wenshan? Do they produce Panax notoginseng drugs and food supplement products? Is it used in production of Yunnan White Drug?" Learning that there are now 12 pharmaceutical enterprises in Wenshan and 2014 prefecture-wide Panax notoginseng processing industry achieved ¥3.084b in output value and ¥2.308b in sales revenue, Vice President LI encouraged the Wenshan Prefecture to speed up the Panax notoginseng pharmaceutical industry and R&D for new products, beef up technological innovation, take the scientific research up to higher level and drive health development of the Panax notoginseng industry.

      Attracted by colorful ethnic dresses and handcrafts at the counter displaying local Juefurong dresses, Vice President LI asked, "which clan's dresses are they?" He was told they were worn by Zhuang and Miao people. Vice President LI took a close look. "Is it completely handmade? Wenshan abounds in ethnic characters and distinguished regional characters. So colorful ethnic customs and culture!" At last, he encouraged the local people to maintain and spread their wonderful traditional culture, continue to develop local ethnic artware industry, further increase the sense of inheriting and protecting ethnic culture and handcraft skills, seek development in protection and ensure protection in pursuit of development.
